Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD): Fast Food, Tobacco and Alcohol

Surely Fast Food, Tobacco, and Alcohol belong to the category of 'Weapons of Mass Destruction' (WMD) when you consider the amount of damage they inflict on society. The rising level of obesity, for example, has recently been recognised as a serious health issue in the UK and the long term effects of tobacco and alcohol use are well documented.

I'm not advocating that we all immediately stop eating fast food, smoking tobacco and drinking alcohol, however, everybody should be made aware of the serious dangers to health associated with these products, especially when coupled with today's convenience lifestyle.

From the website you can send WMD Postcards to your friends, family, politicians, MPs, etc. Altenatively you can print WMD Postcards and Posters (supplied in PDF format) and send them in the more traditional manner.

Fast Food
"The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that globally there are now more than 1 billion overweight adults and that at least 300 million of those are obese [...] The problem has become so widespread that the WHO has declared obesity a global epidemic."
"Four million people die yearly from tobacco-related diseases, one death every eight seconds. If current trends continue, WHO estimates that the toll will rise to ten million by 2030, one death every three seconds. Tobacco is fast becoming a greater cause of death and disability than any single disease."
"Alcohol-related death and disability account for even greater costs to life and longevity than those caused by tobacco use [...] Alcohol's global health impact [is] on a par with unsafe sex and above tobacco in terms of its contribution to the total number of years of life lost to death and disability."
